Augur Turbo
Fast-resolving prediction markets on the Polygon network
Role
Design Lead
Designed the trading and liquidity provider experience across desktop and mobile
Augur Turbo was built as an extension of the Augur protocol, addressing a major barrier: Ethereum gas fees had made the original platform unusable for most users. The team moved to the Polygon network as a Layer 2 solution, enabling fast, low-cost transactions. Markets were settled using the Chainlink API, allowing for quick resolution across categories like crypto, sports, politics, and current events, with fees often under a penny.
We designed the full user experience for both traders and liquidity providers, focusing on accessibility for non-crypto natives while keeping things intuitive for users familiar with AMM based market interfaces.
Augur Turbo saw strong traction at launch, helped by a $1M liquidity incentive grant from the Polygon Foundation. The simplified UX, especially compared to Augur v2, was well received by the community.
However, once liquidity rewards ended, participation dropped. Without incentives, liquidity providers were exposed to impermanent loss, which made market making unattractive.
This highlighted a core challenge in fully decentralised prediction markets: no central entity to consistently seed or profit from liquidity, making long-term sustainability difficult without incentives.
